It is easy
to care of the things we can see. Since we were young we have mastered how to
make things look good on the outside. We have all seen it, the beautiful
house that is filthy on the inside, the car that doesn't run but looks
brand new on the outside, or sadly the person who has all the looks that money
can buy, yet they are so mean.
Psalm
62:5 talks about how our soul finds rest in God. Our soul is something that we cannot
see, so often it is the first thing that we abandon. When we find ourselves
indulging in sin or trying to look too much like the world it is our soul that
pays the price.
The
saying "It's what on the inside that counts" is often overused but so
true. It’s not to say that the outside doesn't matter because it does, but it
is so important that we not only take care of what everyone can see but what
they cannot see as well.
This week,
take care of your soul. Pray, meditate, cry, and heal. Invest real time removing the things, people, and habits that hurt you. Remember that the
invisible part of you not only matters. But matters most.
