Damaged Goods

My definition of love has always been confusing.

It's the truth.

The fact of the matter is, I didn't have many examples of great love growing up.

I mean, I had an an example of my parents resilient love.  I had example of dangerous love, I had examples of forced love, I even had examples of very strong lust that was disguised as love.

What it made me realize was that each person loves in away that reflects their own defention of love, forcing me to realize I didn't always have a clear one.

Often I would even say things like "love isn't for everybody" or "I am never getting married". That was how I coped. It was how I comforted myself. I knew that I was built to love. I knew that deep down I loved , love..... but it was unfamiliar.

So, how did I end up here?

Walking in love, talking in love, ministering in love....being in love.

I put up a good fight, I know it. I was always too busy, too tired, too hurt, too damaged.......too afraid, to love.

I had finally been able  to find a place of  joy. Things were not perfect, by far, but I could cope. My job was great. I loved My church. I had the most amazing family and friends anyone could ask for....so don't fix what's not broken right ?

WRONG...

God finishes.

He doesn't leave empty spots and holes. In God there is no such thing as damaged goods. God doesn't take you to a place of "good enough" and leave you there. He is constantly changing and rearranging the very fibers of your being to continue to make you....you.

It's not easy, nor is it comfortable, but sometimes you have to fight yourself to get what you know you deserve.

If we are not careful we can be our own worst enemy.

The point is to not let fear dictate your next move. Whatever that move is, you will have to love someone on your way there. So why not start with loving yourself enough to trust God. The love that he has for you is far beyond any comfort zone you  have created for yourself.

In order to operate in our full potential, we must use ALL things that God has placed inside of us...the biggest being Love.

We are all called to love. Go LOVE.
